Quasar Celestial Colosseum
Quasar Celestial Colosseum is a large-scale cooperative world boss event where players gather together to challenge the celestial being known as Quasar.
The fight takes place inside a dedicated arena and is designed around more than simply dealing as much damage as possible. Quasar uses several special mechanics, battlefield hazards, and protection phases that require players to react to what is happening during the encounter.
The event also uses a participation system.
This means that simply entering the arena and waiting for Quasar to die is not enough to receive the same reward as players who actively take part in the battle. Your final reward is influenced by how consistently you participate while you are inside the combat arena
Event Summary
- Arena: Quasar Celestial Colosseum
- Event Type: Cooperative World Boss
- Main Objective: Defeat Quasar together with the other players
- Participation Tracking: Yes
- Normal Event: Regular recurring Quasar encounter
- Weekly Event: Special GM-started Quasar encounter, normally held during the Saturday weekly event
- Main Participation Targets: Quasar and the Galactic Stones
Entering the Colosseum
Players can enter the Quasar Celestial Colosseum by speaking with Zephyrael /navi omgmain 161/142 while the event is started.
The Colosseum is divided into two general areas:
- the entrance and preparation area
- the main battle arena.
Before entering the battle area, players may prepare their equipment, buffs, consumables, and party setup. Once the event is active, players can proceed through the arena gate and join the fight. Players are also allowed to join after the battle has already started.
Joining late does not automatically disqualify you from receiving rewards. However, because the event also considers how much of the overall encounter you were present for, a player who joins very late may receive less than someone who actively fought from the beginning.
The entrance area itself is not considered part of the active battle area for participation purposes.
Fighting Quasar
Quasar is much more dangerous than an ordinary boss monster.
The encounter contains several mechanics intended to keep players moving and paying attention instead of simply standing in one location and holding an attack button.
During the battle, players may encounter:
- Rain of Meteor attacks
- Ground-based pattern attack
- Lock On Laser
- Walking and ASPD debuffs
- Freezing traps
- Slower cast time debuff
- Force movement
- Teleportation mechanics
- Immortal phases
- Galactic Stones
- Increase
Some traps can inflict some status like Freeze, Stone, and some will teleport you.
Being temporarily unable to attack because of an encounter mechanic will not erase participation you have already earned.
Galactic Stones
At several points during the battle, Quasar will protect itself with Galactic Stones. These phases occur as Quasar loses HP. When this happens, Quasar becomes protected and the group must deal with the stones before normal damage against Quasar can continue.
During a Galactic Stone phase:
- Quasar becomes protected.
- Four Galactic Stones appear around the arena.
- Players must attack the stones.
- Quasar may receive no effective damage while the protection is active.
- Once all required stones are destroyed, Quasar becomes vulnerable again.
These protection phases happen multiple times during the fight.
Do Not Keep Attacking an Invulnerable Quasar
If Quasar is protected and your attacks are dealing zero damage, those attacks do not provide meaningful participation credit. Players should switch to the Galactic Stones instead. The participation system recognizes the Galactic Stones as valid encounter targets, so helping destroy them counts as participation just like damaging Quasar normally.
Different Stone Defenses
Not every Galactic Stone has the same defensive properties. Some stones are resistant or immune to certain physical attacks, while others are resistant or immune to certain magical attacks. Because of this, one character may not always be effective against every stone.
If one stone is unsuitable for your damage type, attack another one. The mechanic is intended to encourage different characters and builds to cooperate.
Quasar Participation System
The Quasar participation system is designed to answer one simple question: Was this player genuinely helping during the fight?
It is not a DPS ranking. It does not compare your total damage against another player's total damage. You do not need to be the strongest character in the arena.
You do not need to compete for first place. A lower-geared player who consistently helps during the encounter can still have very good participation. The system cares much more about consistent involvement than raw damage output.
What Counts as Participation?
Participation is gained when your player character directly deals actual positive damage to a valid Quasar encounter target. Valid targets include:
- Quasar while Quasar is vulnerable
- Galactic Stones during Quasar's protection phases
You do not need to deal an enormous amount of damage. The system mainly needs to see that your character is actively helping during that portion of the encounter.
What Does Not Count?
The following actions do not count as combat participation by themselves:
- standing inside the arena
- walking around
- using consumables
- changing equipment
- repeatedly casting a skill on yourself
- repeatedly buffing yourself
- attacking Quasar while Quasar is immune and receiving zero damage
- allowing a Homunculus to fight while your character does nothing
- allowing a Pet to fight while your character does nothing
- allowing a Mercenary to fight while your character does nothing
- allowing an Elemental or another summon to fight while your character does nothing
Only damage caused by the actual player character is considered for this participation system. This means that a character cannot simply stand still while a companion performs the encounter for them.
Participation Is Measured Over Time
Quasar does not calculate participation by storing every individual attack. Instead, the encounter divides the fight into short periods called participation windows. Each window lasts roughly ten seconds. During each window, the system only needs to know whether your character successfully participated.
For example:
| What Player do | Status |
|---|---|
| Attacks Quasar continuously during the window. | Active |
| Successfully damages Quasar only a few times during the window. | Active |
| Damages a Galactic Stone during a protection phase. | Active |
| Stands inside the arena but does not attack. | Inactive |
| Repeatedly casts a self-buff without damaging Quasar or a Galactic Stone. | Inactive |
The system does not give a high-ASPD character dozens of times more participation credit simply because they attack more frequently. Once you have successfully participated during that window, you are considered active for that period.
Active Windows
An Active Window is a participation period where your character successfully damaged Quasar or one of the valid Galactic Stones. The more consistently you participate throughout the battle, the more Active Windows you accumulate.
For example, a player who actively fights during nearly every available window will have very strong participation. A player who attacks only occasionally will have far fewer Active Windows.
Eligible Windows
An Eligible Window is a participation period where your character is inside the actual Quasar combat area. The preparation and entrance area does not count.
This allows the system to distinguish between:
- a player who was inside the fight and actively participating
- a player who was inside the fight but inactive
- a player who had not entered the battle area yet
Your combat participation is primarily based on how many of your eligible periods were also active periods.
Attendance
The event also considers your overall attendance. Attendance answers a different question: How much of the entire Quasar encounter was this player actually present for? This is separate from combat participation.
For example:
A player may have excellent participation while they are present, but if they joined very late, their overall attendance will be lower. Another player may have been present for the entire event, but if they barely attacked, their combat participation will be poor. Combat participation is the more important factor. Attendance acts as a secondary modifier.
This means: Being present cannot replace actually fighting. A player who spends the entire event inside the arena but does almost nothing should still receive a low reward.
Late Players
Players who arrive after the battle has already started are still encouraged to join. A late player can still earn meaningful rewards by participating consistently after entering the arena. However, someone who fought actively from the beginning will generally have better overall attendance.
This prevents a player from entering during the final few seconds, attacking once, and receiving the same reward as players who spent the entire encounter fighting. At the same time, the system does not make late participation worthless. If you arrive late, enter the arena and help.
Reward Calculation
After Quasar is defeated, the Treasure Chest evaluates your participation during that encounter.
The reward system mainly looks at:
- how consistently you participated while you were inside the battle
- how much of the overall encounter you attended
Combat participation is the main factor. Attendance modifies the result, but attendance alone cannot create a good reward.
| In simple terms: | |
|---|---|
| Fight often + stay for most of the battle | better reward |
| Stay in the arena but do almost nothing | poor reward |
| Join late but fight seriously | useful reward, but normally lower than someone who fought from the beginning |
Reward Tiers
Quasar uses several reward levels instead of only giving either a full reward or nothing. Players with very strong participation can receive the highest amount of the scalable Quasar reward. Players with moderate participation receive a smaller amount. Players with very little participation receive only a very small reward.
There is also a minimum participation requirement for some of the additional Treasure Chest rewards. This means a character that contributes almost nothing should not expect the same reward package as the players who actually defeated Quasar. The exact internal percentages do not need to be memorized.
The intended rule is simple: If you genuinely fight Quasar, you will be rewarded for it.
Example: Active Player
A player enters near the beginning of the encounter. They attack Quasar whenever Quasar is vulnerable. Whenever Galactic Stones appear, they switch targets and help destroy them. They continue fighting throughout most of the event.
Expected result: Very high participation, very high attendance, and one of the best reward tiers.
Example: Late Arrival
A player joins when the battle is already halfway finished. After entering the combat arena, they actively fight until Quasar dies.
Expected result: Their combat participation while present can still be excellent.
Their overall attendance is lower because they missed the beginning of the encounter. They can still receive a meaningful reward, but normally less than an equally active player who fought from the start.
Example: Arena AFK
A player enters the battle area at the beginning. They remain inside the arena for almost the entire fight but rarely attack.
Expected result: Attendance is high. Combat participation is very low. The final reward is therefore low.
Simply standing in the arena does not qualify as meaningful participation.
Example: Repeating Self-Cast Skill
A player uses a keyboard or mouse function to repeatedly cast a self-targeted skill. The character performs actions continuously but never actually damages Quasar or the Galactic Stones.
Expected result: No meaningful Quasar participation is generated.
The system checks actual combat contribution, not whether the character is pressing buttons.
Example: Attacking Protected Quasar
Quasar enters a Galactic Stone phase. A player continues attacking Quasar even though every attack deals zero damage.
Expected result: Those attacks do not count as meaningful participation.
The player should switch to the Galactic Stones.
Treasure Chest
After Quasar has been defeated, the Treasure Chest becomes available. Each character may claim the Quasar chest reward once for that event.
The chest evaluates the character's participation record and provides the appropriate reward. Players with sufficient participation receive the additional Quasar reward package.
The quantity of the scalable reward increases according to the character's final participation result. Players with very low participation receive considerably less. Make sure you have enough inventory capacity before claiming your reward.
Last Hit Bonus
The player who delivers the final hit to Quasar may receive an additional reward. This is separate from the normal participation reward. The last-hit reward should be considered a bonus.
It does not replace the participation system. A player who waits around doing nothing and only tries to steal the final hit should not expect the same Treasure Chest result as someone who participated throughout the fight.
Normal Quasar
The regular Quasar event is the recurring version of Quasar Celestial Colosseum. This is the version players will normally encounter as part of the server's regular event schedule. During a Normal Quasar battle, the encounter receives additional scaling assistance if the fight continues for a long time.
As the encounter becomes prolonged, Quasar can gradually become easier to damage. This helps prevent the normal recurring event from becoming permanently stalled when the available group is smaller or weaker than usual.
Normal Quasar still uses all of the standard systems described on this page:
- Participation tracking
- Attendance
- Galactic Stone phases
- Arena mechanics
- Treasure Chest rewards
- Last-hit rewards
- Quasar lowered their defense from time to time
Weekly Quasar
Weekly Quasar is the special version of the Quasar Celestial Colosseum encounter. Weekly Quasar is normally started manually by our handsome GM as part of the server's weekly event schedule.
It is usually held around: Saturday — 9:00 PM
The exact schedule may change depending on staff announcements, holidays, maintenance, or special events.
How Weekly Quasar Is Different
Weekly Quasar uses the same arena and the same fundamental mechanics as Normal Quasar. However, Weekly Quasar is intended to be the more challenging organized version of the encounter. One important difference is how the event handles a prolonged fight.
During Normal Quasar, the boss may gradually receive additional damage scaling assistance as the encounter continues. During Weekly Quasar, this normal assistance is restricted. As a result, Weekly Quasar may remain considerably more difficult during a long battle.
Players should expect better cooperation to be required. The Weekly version also provides a better last-hit bonus than the Normal version.
Participation During Weekly Quasar
The participation rules themselves do not become easier during Weekly Quasar.
Players should still:
- directly damage Quasar
- attack Galactic Stones when Quasar becomes protected
- remain involved throughout the encounter
- avoid extended inactivity
- react to battlefield mechanics
Weekly Quasar is intended to be a server-wide cooperative challenge, so players are encouraged to organize and work together.
Tips
- Enter the battle area as soon as you are ready.
- Attack Quasar whenever the boss is vulnerable.
- Stop attacking Quasar when it becomes protected.
- Switch to Galactic Stones immediately.
- Pay attention to which stones your build can damage effectively.
- Avoid staying inactive for long periods.
- Do not worry about competing for highest damage.
- A short death or connection interruption will not erase earlier participation.
- If you arrive late, join anyway and help.
- Watch the battlefield; many Quasar attacks punish players who remain stationary.
- Keep enough inventory space available before claiming the Treasure Chest.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quasar does not use a simple top-damage ranking for its participation rewards. Consistency matters more than beating other players on a damage meter.
You do not need to land an attack every second. However, long periods where you do not contribute will lower your participation.
Late players can still participate and receive rewards. Your attendance will naturally be lower, but active participation after joining still matters.
You may miss participation during the time you are unavailable, but earlier active periods remain.
Only direct damage dealt by your player character counts toward Quasar participation.
Pet damage does not count toward Quasar participation. Your player character must directly damage Quasar or a valid Galactic Stone.
Mercenary damage does not count toward Quasar participation.
Elemental and other summon damage does not count toward Quasar participation. The system only checks direct damage from the player character.
Self-buffing by itself does not count as combat participation. The system looks for actual damage dealt to Quasar or a valid Galactic Stone.
The current Quasar participation system is based on direct damage against valid encounter targets. Healing alone does not generate participation credit.
If Quasar is protected during a Galactic Stone phase and your attacks deal zero damage, those attacks do not count. Attack the Galactic Stones instead.
Only Quasar and the designated Galactic Stones count as participation targets. Meteor monsters, laser helpers, ground-effect monsters, and other arena mechanic units do not count.
Once you have successfully participated during a short participation period, attacking dozens of additional times during that same period does not create dozens of additional participation credits. Higher ASPD can still help defeat Quasar faster, but it does not multiply your participation score by hit count.
Attendance cannot replace actual combat contribution. Players who stay inside the arena but rarely help should expect a much lower reward than players who actively fight.
Final Notes
Quasar Celestial Colosseum is meant to reward cooperation and genuine participation rather than raw damage competition.
You do not need to be the strongest player.
You do not need to win a DPS ranking.
You do need to participate.
Attack Quasar when it is vulnerable.
Help destroy the Galactic Stones when they appear.
Pay attention to the arena mechanics.
Stay involved for as much of the encounter as you reasonably can.
If you do that, the participation system will recognize your contribution.
The goal of the system is simple:
Players who help defeat Quasar should receive better rewards than players who merely wait for Quasar to die.
